I love the idea of confused archaeologists in the future, as quite often we have confused archaeologists now. "These triangles may represent female reproductive organs, or relate to having migraines, or being on magic mushrooms" (seriously, do the tour of the Rock Art at Creswell Crags, tt's pretty much "we have no idea, but it looks awesome") So small excavation machines being buried under posh London houses, as it's cheaper to leave them underground than pull them out of the basement they've just dug?... The New Statesman has the story in full here, but the bit which grabbed my attention is below. :) The atrium of the British Museum, around 5000AD, will feature a digger prominently as the central icon of elite, 21st-century living. |
