New Uniform. Old Problems.

Welcome to front of house work with mandatory uniform selected for you by people who don't have to wear it themselves.

A seperate issue was when new shirts were introduced.
White, sort of like school uniform, and obligating the female staff to almost always wear a jumper over, or vest under their shirt, or have their bra visible through the material.

We were once given a new uniform where the long sleeved jumpers were replaced with "more practical" jumpers without sleeves (tank tops?)

Previously we'd complained that we needed extra jumpers, because the sleeves would pick up dust and dirt behind the scenes, and glitter, fluff etc from kid's activities. Two jumpers weren't enough unless you had a tumble dryer or very warm house to constantly have one washed and drying in time to then wash the other one. Sometimes you'd do an 8 day shift.

So instead of giving us 3 jumpers each, they just gave us 2 jumpers, without sleeves. White shirts look dirtier a lot faster than navy jumpers - so sometimes by mid day you'd look tatty. And cold. Quite cold!

What's the issue with a bra being visible under a white shirt? It's never bothered me, and I'm generally fairly conservative in my dress.

Sorry, Catherine, only just seen your comment as it seems my blog isn't notifying me about comments :/

I think this may be personal preference, but the female staff in this case didn't feel comfortable with having to wear an extra layer, or have people know if their underwear was patterned or plain. Some visibility is understandable, it is white shirt material, but this was more than the previous shirts, so was unexpected.
